The Face of Corruption

The Face of Corruption

Seeing the large mob gathered at India Gate shouting “Stop Corruption!”, a child innocently asked his father, “Dad, cannot this so called corruption be stopped by passing on a few bucks to some officer??”
Welcome to the reality people. In my previous blog, I explained you how the buggy system of reservation has contaminated the roots of our country. In this post, we shall discuss about another germ that has penetrated so deep into our roots that it’s almost impossible to even spray a medicine over it.

Getting back to history, no one exactly knows where the roots of corruption lie. Did it start during the reign of the Kings over India, or was it still persistent during the time of almighty Hindu Gods. You can also see some examples of corruption in our Vedas. But then who needs to know the origin. Let’s get back to our time.

What is corruption?

I my words, it can be defined as:
“A state of being diseased to such an extent that a man loses his humanity, gets lost in his own greed, and is ready to override his will for his selfishness, which may include harming another man, a whole state, or even a whole country”.

Now we move onto facts. A. Raja, the so called most corrupted people of India was arrested on but then bailed out for keeping an illegal sum of Rs. 7800 Crores in Swiss Bank. NeeraRadia, another name (this time a female) was denated on for keeping an illegal sum of Rs. 289990 Crores in Swiss Bank. Mrs. Sonia Gandhi (don’t get your spirits too high for her people) has never been arrested or no statement has ever been issued on her name, though she holds an illegal sum of Rs. 198000 Crores in Swiss Bank. All these records have been collected from Wiki leaks’ report of 02/08/2011.

The list doesn’t end here. Just have a look at the records which were published by Wiki Leaks. The table gives the name of corrupt worms, with the amount of black money they have and the number of accounts they maintain.

And a few more names:

It’s just not it. Wiki Leaks claim that they have got a full list of 2000 corrupt Indian politicians who have deposited their black money in foreign banks. The money has been collected from project hedge, illegal shares in stock market, drug dealings, fake projects, etc.

2G scam (Rs.1.76 lakh crores by A.Raja), Coal Scam, Common Wealth Games Scam (involved more than Rs.3500 Crores), Telgi Scam (Abdul Karim Telgi mastered the art of making fake stamp papers and sold them to banks and other institutes. The disease penetrated 12 states and was estimated to be over Rs.20000 Crores.), Satya Scam (biggest fraud in Corporate history to the tune of Rs.14000 Crores), Bofors Scam ($16 Million were paid to members of Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress in 1980s), Fodder Scam (also known as Chara Ghotala in Bihar, worth Rs.900 Crores), The Hawala Scandal (Also included Lal Krishna Advani, when major political playes accepted bribes of over $18 million from militants in Kashmir), IPL Scam, and many-many more.

We’ve been living in a country where an Irish lady goes out to foreign trips every month to hide her black money behind the excuses of treatments; A country where CBI, under the control of PM, is given orders to investigate the PM itself; A country where people participating in a peaceful protest by Baba Ramdev in New Delhi are thrashed mercilessly by Police Officers at devil’s time 1am; A country where a PM cannot utter a single word in front of the public; A country where people richer than Bill Gates exist, but they cannot show off their money in public.

Welcome to India, a developing India.
