The Lost Childhood
A 12 year old child now has an iPhone, Macbook, a Facebook account, more than 2 girlfriends or boyfriends. When I was 12, I felt awesome with my new geometry box. After a short break, I present to you my new article on today’s childhood. A childhood was isn’t really a childhood but yes a partial adulthood. A childhood which lacks cute nuisances but contains mischief’s.
Childhood: The Best Phase of a Human’s Cycle
Childhood has always been considered as the golden period of everyone’s life. A phase of life when wounded knees are the biggest reason for tears; a phase when completing school’s home work are the biggest tensions; a phase where broken toys are the reason for silly fights; a phase when your Dad is your best superhero; a phase where “Good bye” refers to “see you tomorrow”; a phase when standing with your hands up are the worst punishments; a phase when the most awaited days are Sundays; a phase when your bag is your only property to handle.
A Childhood Memory.. :)
The lines can surely remind you of your childhood, your awesome childhood, a time you crave for, the most.
When I was a child, they asked me: “What do you want to become when you grow up?”
I used to smile innocently and say: “An Astronaut!”
Now when they ask me the same question, I smile and say: “I just wanna be a child again.”
The Changing Scenario:
When I look back, I see myself enjoying inspirational cartoons, playing on streets, enjoying with my friends and eating food made by the best cook in the world, my mother. But it seems as if all these things were a part of different civilization. When I look at a kid today, I find him holding an iPhone, playing Xbox, or eating junk foods. The scenario change has been so rapid that no one seemed to notice it. But when everyone saw it, perhaps it was too late. Today’s child has been occupied by technology.I saw a movie “The Terminator”, where machines start ruling the world. Well this might not be true and the movie is fictional, but yes the machines have already controlled your children’s mind. Every kid is addicted to technology.
It reminds me of a few lines here:
We are the last generation that learnt to play in the Streets
and the first to play Video Games,
see Cartoons in Color and went to amusement Parks.
We were the last to record Radio Songs on Cassettes
and we are the Pioneers of Walkmans and Chatrooms. ...
We learned how to program the VCR before anyone else,
play with the Atari and Super Nintendo,
and believed the Internet would be a free World,
all on a 56k Modem.
Travelled in Cars without seatbelts or air-bags
& lived without cell phones.
Rode the bikes down the Road without brakes.
We never had phones but still kept in touch.
We did not have Playstations, 99 TV Channels, Flat Screens, Surround Sound, MP3s, iPods, Computers or broadband....
But nevertheless, we had a GREAT Time!
Who Is Responsible?
When it comes to taking up the blame, you might put it on changing time. U may give any reason for it, or you may even say that you’re proud that your child is surrounded by technology and is smarter than anyone else, but still you know you (his parents) are the culprit. It was you who left him alone in the house when he wanted your company, it was you who gave him an iPhone when he demanded a Video Game, it was you who gave him Chips when he asked for food, it was you who handed him a Xbox when he wanted to play football with you. Believe it or not, but you can feel that itching inside.Change, can it be appreciated?
Ask this question within yourself, you’ll know the answer.Did this post remind you of your childhood days, well then lets take another dip into the ocean.
