The Importance of Wisdom
You join a gym to train your body; you attend an educational institute to train your brain; you solve aptitude questions to improve your IQ; but how many of you have ever tried to train your soul? How many of you have tried to attain internal peace? How many of you have ever tried to know your own hidden secrets? The answer to these questions lies within you. You may accept it or not, but yes, you are a part of crowd who always work out on any skill to show it to other people. No one can actually prove how much peace lies within him, so he does now put any time in improving this capability.
What is Wisdom?
I don’t think anyone here needs to know “What Wisdom is”. Wisdom is the peace of your soul, the acceptance of your heart that it does now require anything else, the joining of soul to body, your acceptance of the things going on around you. But yes, wisdom is nothing more than a feel.I have met a lot of people in my life, men of knowledge, men of philosophy, men of super strong IQ, men with unbelievable physical powers. But I still desire to meet a happy man, a man who has peace resting inside him.
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari
Few people asked me “How do we attain our inner peace?” I advised them to read the book “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin S Sharma. They read the book thoroughly and practiced the steps in the book regularly for more than a month but felt no change. They asked me again “Why don’t we feel any effect?” I couldn’t answer their query because I was unsure myself. But soon I realized their fault. Their motto was just superficial. They believed that following those steps would brighten up their face. The belief was correct of course but it was surely a problem. They followed the steps not with the goal to attain peace, but to add charm to their personality. If you also followed those steps with a motto other than the actual motto, you are surely a lot far away from your path.Importance of Wisdom
Remember King Ashoka? He fought hundreds of battles, won many states, destroyed innumerable families. But still he was not happy. The blood battle of Kalinga made him realize how wrongly he had interpreted the meaning of life. The fame, the glory, the name, the wealth, the power is all meaningless when it comes to your inner happiness. And then he chose the path of peace. He accepted Buddhism, and made his life divine.“Buddham Sharnam Gattchami, Dhammam Sharnam Gattchami” were the most peaceful words for him. These Sanskrit words mean: “Follow the path of the Lord Buddha, and accept what he teaches”.
If such great glory didn’t bring him happiness, do you think that your life which has less than one per cent of his glory can satisfy you?
Attaining Wisdom
Few men advice that to have that kind of Wisdom thing, you need to visit all holy places of the world, worship in the temples, live the life a monk lives and all. But for me, Wisdom can even be achieved at home. All you need is to traverse yourself. Spend some time alone away from any chirruping and search your soul. Think about how your life is going on; think about what kind of satisfaction do you need; think whether your desire for any material is really a necessity? You will find all your answers within yourself. Read Robert Frost’s or Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry and understand their hidden meanings. Go through holy books if you have time.No other teacher can brighten up your life as effectively as you.
